Role Description - Chief Moderator
Main Function of Role: To ensure that the standards of the internally assessed (and, where appropriate, the independently assessed) components of NCFE qualifications are consistent across centres, moderators and from year to year.
Accountable To: Principal Chief
Description of Function:

Ensure that Moderators are properly co-ordinated and perform to the required standards

Create standardisation tasks
-
Advise on the function of internally assessed components and prepare an annual evaluation

Carry out moderation duties and ensure that moderation criteria are maintained nationally over time

Work with the Chief Examiner (where applicable) for the qualification and with NCFE staff to produce the qualification assessment specification

Adhere to established NCFE work processes

Attend training events and other meetings as required

Provide excellent levels of customer service at all times

Adhere to NCFE’s Code of Practice for External Contractors
Requirements to undertake the role:
Essential
-
Professional qualification (level 4/5) relating to the sector area
-
Minimum of three years’ employment in the relevant sector or at least three years’ teaching experience in the sector area

Experience of moderation/verification
-
Understanding of effective quality assurance mechanisms
-
Willingness/Ability to travel extensively where required
-
Have a home PC or a Laptop which has the following minimum specification:

Windows 2000, XP Professional or XP Home Edition
