Role Description – Principal Verifier
Main Function of Role: To manage and support Chief Verifiers and Verifiers
Accountable To: External Quality Assurance Leader
Description of Function:
- Lead and manage the performance of NCFE’s Chief Verifiers and External Verifiers for NVQ provision
- Manage the quality assurance of NCFE’s assessments for NVQ’s
- Assist in the recruitment and training of new Chief Verifiers and Verifiers
- Prepare and deliver training for Chief Verifiers and Verifiers
- Provide management support to deal with issues relating to assessment of NVQ’s
- Adhere to established NCFE work processes
- Attend training events and other meetings as required
- Provide excellent levels of customer service at all times
- Adhere to NCFE’s Code of Practice for External Contractors
Requirements to undertake the role:
Essential:
- Educated to degree level or possessing equivalent professional experience
- Hold A1, V1 and A2 and V2 units
- Experienced in the delivery and assessment of NVQ’s
- Teaching / training experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and presentation skills
- Knowledge and understanding of NCFE qualifications, assessment strategies and developments
- Excellent organisational skills
- Computer literate (especially Microsoft Word and e-mail)
- An understanding of NCFE’s Chief Moderator/Chief Examiner performance monitoring and review system
- An understanding of the role of awarding bodies, the further education sector and developments in the external educational environment
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with NCFE staff
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines
- Willingness/Ability to travel extensively where required.
