Creating Enterprising Places

Date:
24 June 2008

Venue:
New Connaught Rooms, London

Summary:
This important one day conference, supported by the Make your Mark campaign and the Municipal Journal will take a fresh and innovative look at the role of enterprise in unlocking talent, reducing worklessness and shaping places. It will examine how local authorities, working with local and regional partners, can promote and support enterprise to tackle cross-cutting priorities and build on the plan in the Government’s Sub-national Review.

Coming at a crucial time for the sector, through presentations from leading politicians, commentators and practitioners, and a series of interactive workshops, delegates will reflect on government’s new Enterprise Strategy. Delegates will learn about the government’s latest Welfare to Work Policies, including opportunities offered by the Working Neighbourhoods Fund which can be used to support enterprise to tackle issues of worklessness and deprivation.

Best practice examples from across the country will look at how localities are mainstreaming enterprise whilst considering how the new Local Government Performance Framework will offer local authorities the flexibility to negotiate targets in line with local needs.

Delegates will also have the opportunity to take part in the Make your Mark Speed Networking session
