Green College Declaration

AOC ‘commits’ colleges to going green.

The ‘Green College Declaration’ recently launched by the Association of Colleges (AoC), commits colleges to make sustainable development the guiding principle in their policies, practices and planning.

This has far reaching consequences committing colleges to champion sustainable development among staff, students, employers, councils and their local communities.

Key to this is the need to raise awareness on sustainability issues, enabling all stakeholders to make informed contributions to protecting the environment and making sustainability a reality.

In response to this need, NCFE offer 2 qualifications focusing on sustainable development :

NCFE Level 1 Certificate in Sustainable Development
NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Sustainable Development

Both qualifications are on the National Qualifications Framework and are LSC fundable, they’re suitable for delivery to adult learners and as additionality or enrichment for full time learners. Both courses carry GCSE points making them suitable for school links learners. They could provide useful contributions to a CPD programme for college staff.

High quality, flexible learning materials are available from Tribal Learning and Publishing to support the delivery of both these qualifications.

For further information about these qualifications, contact Jayne Tighe on 0191 239 8074 or email jaynetighe@ncfe.org.uk Alternatively speak to your regional Business Development Team about becoming approved to offer this qualification.
