NCFE have a range of qualifications that offer an introduction to the childcare sector.

The NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Developing Skills for Working with Children and Young People is ideally suited to a wide range of learners, including adult learners, school leavers with limited work experience and 14-16 year olds who are interested in working in the childcare sector.

By promoting an integrated approach, the qualification aims to develop the knowledge and transferable skills necessary to work in sector in a range of job roles, and is particularly beneficial as an introduction to those who don’t yet know which specific job role to peruse.

Learners will have the opportunity to undertake a work placement as part of this qualification.

The NCFE Level 1 National Award in Working with Children provides a first step for those who’d like to become childcare workers. Learners can use this as a introduction to help them progress to the Level 2 qualifications needed to gain employment.

The Level 2 Certificate in Developing Skills for Early Years Practice is ideal for people who would like to gain a qualification for working in a crèche or pre-school environment. It focuses on working with children aged 0 to 8 years old.

NCFE has ensured that these qualifications link directly to the National Occupational Standards for Children’s Care, Learning and Development. The Common Core of Skills and Knowledge for the Children’s Workforce is also embedded within these qualifications.

If you’re interested in working in schools…
